DESCRIPTION:The Newton Needham Chamber of Business hosts its 2015 Green Business awards breakfast at the Newton Marriott Hotel on Wednesday\, May 6th.  Held in the Marriott’s outdoor pavilion along the banks of the Charles River\, the Green Business Awards breakfast honors local businesses for their environmental achievements.\n \n“The Green Business Awards Breakfast brings business and civic leaders together to discuss and celebrate the economic and social benefits of being green\,” said Peter Smith\, co-chairman of the Chamber’s Environment Committee. “It will recognize the outstanding achievements local businesses and civic organizations have taken to reduce our carbon footprint.” \nRich Davey\, Chief Executive Officer of the Boston 2024 Partnership\, the organization seeking to bring the Olympics and Paralympic Summer Games to Boston\, will deliver the keynote address.   \nPrior to working at Boston 2024\, Davey served for over a decade in chief executive and senior management roles in several transportation organizations in Massachusetts\, including three years as Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Prior to serving as Secretary\, Rich served as MBTA General Manager and MassDOT Rail & Transit Administrator.   This will be your opportunity to hear about the Olympic proposal and ask questions. \nGeorge Bachrach\, president of the Environmental League of Massachusetts will also be speaking.   Bachrach is an attorney who served three terms in the Massachusetts state senate in the 1980s. \nWCVB-Channel 5 meteorologist Mike Wankum will be master of ceremonies.  \nNeedham Board of Selectmen Chair Moe Handel and Newton Mayor Setti Warren will present awards to the Green Businesses of the Year from their respective communities.   \nRegistration and additional details available here at the Chamber’s web site.   \nGreen Needham is an active participant in the Green Business Awards program.
