{"id":15754,"date":"2022-07-20T15:01:20","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T19:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/?page_id=15754"},"modified":"2024-05-23T17:44:18","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T21:44:18","slug":"climate-action-plan-cap","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/climate-action-plan-cap\/","title":{"rendered":"Climate Action Roadmap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Needham\u2019s Climate Action Roadmap<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At its May 14th, 2024 meeting, the Needham Select Board formally adopted and published the <a href=\"https:\/\/needhamma.gov\/DocumentCenter\/View\/45086\/Sustainable-Needham_Climate-Action-Roadmap?bidId=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sustainable Needham Climate Action Roadmap<\/a>. It calls for a collective effort by the Town, businesses, community organizations, and individuals to achieve Net Zero and resiliency goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did we get here?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2021 Green Needham, joined by the Needham League of Women Voters and Mothers Out Front Needham, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/2021\/06\/advancing-a-climate-action-plan-for-needham\/\">developed the proposal to the Select Board<\/a> that resulted in the establishment of Needham\u2019s Climate Action Planning Committee (CAPC). The Select Board constituted the CAPC in March 2022 and charged the group with guiding the development of a Climate Action Roadmap.<\/p>\n<p>The CAPC consisted of five interested residents, one member of the Planning Board, one member of the Conservation Commission, and two Select Board members, assisted by DPW staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Setting a Baseline<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory was completed in 2022\n<ul>\n<li>Greenhouse gas inventory (GHG) inventory sets the baseline and tells us about the makeup of Needham\u2019s GHG Emissions.<\/li>\n<li>Initiated by Green Needham in 2021, using the MAPC analysis tools.
