Leave early.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>There is sometimes busing on the parts of the Green Line during track repairs. You can check the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/schedules\/Green\/alerts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MBTA website <\/a>for service alerts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Where are the closest stations?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eliot and Newton Highlands are the closest to Needham. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/schedules\/Green-D\/line?schedule_direction%5Bdirection_id%5D=1&amp;schedule_direction%5Bvariant%5D=Green-D-855-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Green Line D Information Page<\/a> lists the stations. Scroll down and click on the station for information on location, number of parking spaces, accessibility, bus connections, etc.<\/p>\n<p><b>What are the fares?<br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p>See the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/fares#bus_subway_overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> MBTA Fares Overview<\/a> for price and transfer information, including one-way tickets and different kinds of passes. Note that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/fares\/reduced\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reduced fares<\/a>\u00a0are available for eligible customers. As of August 1, 2024, the MBTA is offering an option for<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/fares\/charlie\/tap-ride\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contactless Tap to Ride payment<\/a><\/strong> on bus, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/schedules\/Green\/line\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green Line<\/a> and Mattapan trolleys, and all gated subway stations. This means that there will be new Tap to Ride screens that enable you to pay by simply tapping your contactless debit\/credit card, phone, or watch with a mobile wallet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/fares\/charliecard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CharlieCards<\/strong> or <strong>CharlieTickets<\/strong><\/a> may still be used, (and<strong> must<\/strong> be used for weekly or monthly passes) but be sure to tap them on the old readers that you&#8217;ve always used, not on the new Tap to Ride screens. Cash on board is accepted on buses and street-level trolleys, however it will hold up the line. If using cash, try to use exact change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What if you&#8217;re enrolled in a reduced fare program?<\/strong> You can still use your existing Reduced Fare CharlieCard (tapped on the old reader) but you can also choose to link your benefits to your contactless credit\/debit card, phone, or watch.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/fares\/charlie\/tap-ride-reduced-fares\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> See more details<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/fares\/reduced\/senior-charliecard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong> Learn how seniors can<\/strong> <strong>apply for a new, renewal, or replacement Senior CharlieCard online or by appointment.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Parking:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Where to Park<\/strong>: In Newton, there are small outdoor MBTA lots at Waban, Eliot and Chestnut Hill stations (no MBTA lots at Newton Highlands or Newton Center). Woodland Station has a parking garage with plenty of spaces \u2013 although may fill up for Red Sox games. Riverside has a large outdoor lot<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Price: As of 8\/1\/24, $6 weekdays at Woodland and Riverside ($9 at Eliot); all are $3 on weekends. Prices may change:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/parking\/stations-and-rates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Find the parking fees for your station.<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For parking you may pay electronically with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paybyphone.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PaybyPhone<\/a> system (download the app or call the PaybyPhone number posted at the station and follow the prompts). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/parking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">See more details<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/parking\/pay-month\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monthly parking<\/a> passes are available.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t want to bother with an account? If you are not a regular commuter or would prefer not to use PayByPhone, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/parking\/parking-rules-and-policies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">invoice notice <\/a>will be mailed to the vehicle\u2019s registered owner for every day the vehicle is found unpaid in the parking lot at the end of each month. The invoice will include a $1 surcharge for each day of unpaid parking in addition to the parking fee. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbta.com\/parking\/pay-your-parking-ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Payments can be made<\/a> online, by phone, or via mail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Tip:<\/b> <strong>Finding a weekday parking space at Waban, Eliot or Chestnut Hill can be tough after rush hour.
