See yellow pages under fire equipment and call to check for a fee. Or do a web search: fire equipment Boston area.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"rc_return\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/recyclopedia\">Back to Index<\/a><br \/>\n<a id=\"fb\" name=\"fb\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Fluorescent Light Bulbs (Tube and CFLs)\u00a0 (11\/2022)<\/h3>\n<p>All fluorescent light bulbs contain mercury and therefore cannot be thrown out in the trash. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energystar.gov\/products\/lighting_fans\/light_bulbs\/learn_about_clfs\/cfls_and_mercury\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here for information<\/a> from EnergyStar. However, their use is encouraged because they are highly energy efficient and cut down on mercury emissions from power plants. Consumers have the choice of buying LED bulbs, which do not contain mercury and are gradually becoming less expensive.<\/p>\n<p>Hardware stores such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lowes.com\/cd_Recycling_368967519_\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LOWE\u2019S<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/recyclenation.com\/2013\/01\/home-depot-program-recycling-cfls-easier\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HOME DEPOT<\/a> accept CFLs for recycling. Dispose of with regular trash. They accept gently used furniture that will fit in a small apartment and can be moved upstairs without an elevator, as well as certain household items such as kitchen items and linens and towels (ones that you would give to family or a friend), and make them available at no charge to those in need. Furniture must be clean and free of damage and stains \u2013 no tears, patches, pet hair, stains, excessive scratches, and marks.
