This translates to <b>reduced utility bills<\/b> &#8212; an estimated total savings of <b>$47,020\u00a0every year<\/b> and an annual reduction of <b>250 tons of CO2<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3>Home Energy Savings Team<\/h3>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2; margin-top: 1em;\">Green Needham&#8217;s Home Energy Savings Team, (HEST) encourages Needham residents\u00a0to get their\u00a0<em><strong>no-cost energy assessment<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Join your neighbors who have already\u00a0done this, and are now <em><strong>saving money and energy<\/strong> <\/em>every month on their electric bills. Not only are energy-efficiency measures provided during the assessments, so that\u00a0residents can start saving energy and money <strong><em>immediately<\/em><\/strong>, but much of the cost of follow-up measures recommended by the assessment is paid for by the Mass Save program!<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2; margin-top: 1em;\">The team&#8217;s goals include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage more Needham residents to get a<strong> no-cost energy audit.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Increase the number of people who have insulation or other follow-up work done after their home energy audit.<\/li>\n<li><b>Educate residents<\/b> about larger energy-saving undertakings such as boiler replacements, and the use of newer technologies to achieve additional energy savings in their homes.<\/li>\n<li>Continue to <b>inform Needham residents about ways to save energy<\/b>, helping Needham <b>reduce the output of carbon<\/b> from the use of fossil fuels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We would welcome your help! If you would like to get involved or want more information, contact <a href=\"mailto:jamesglickman1@gmail.com\">Jim Glickman<\/a> or <a href=\"mailto:MCBL1@RCN.COM\">Maureen Commane<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Mass Save Program<\/h3>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.2; margin-top: 1em;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.masssave.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mass Save<\/a> is the state agency that administers our\u00a0energy efficiency programs.\u00a0 Electric customers pay a small &#8220;energy efficiency&#8221; charge every month on their electric bill, which pays for the programs.\u00a0 Since you are <em><strong>already<\/strong> <\/em>paying for\u00a0it, you should <em><strong>take advantage<\/strong> <\/em>of it!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how it works:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>Call Mass Save at <strong>866-527-SAVE (7283)<\/strong> to schedule a no-cost, detailed home energy assessment, or visit their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masssave.com\/en\/residential\/home-energy-assessments\/how-to-participate\/homeowners-1-to-4-units\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> to\u00a0get more information.<\/li>\n<li>The no-cost assessment is available to <b class=\"db\">all<\/b> residents in <strong>1-4 family homes<\/strong>, whether they have gas, electric or oil heat. (Contact <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masssave.com\/en\/residential\/home-energy-assessments\/how-to-participate\/homeowners-1-to-4-units\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mass Save <\/a>if you live in an apartment or condo complex.)\n<ul>\n<li>Already had an assessment?\u00a0 Homeowners are eligible for another assessment every 24 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Your home energy advisor will provide:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>A <b class=\"db\">top-to-bottom assessment<\/b> of your home&#8217;s energy efficiency, followed by <b class=\"db\">detailed recommendations<\/b> for energy-savings opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Complimentary &#8220;Instant Savings&#8221; such as compact fluorescent lights, setback thermostats, showerheads, LED lights, &#8220;smart&#8221; power strips,\u00a0and faucet aerators <b class=\"db\">will be installed at no charge.<\/b><\/li>\n<li>If your home needs <b class=\"db\">air sealing<\/b>, it will be done <b class=\"db\">at no charge to you<\/b>. The home energy advisor will provide a complete scope of work, schedule the work with you and, in most cases, will arrange for inspection when the work is completed.<\/li>\n<li>If your home needs <b class=\"db\">insulation<\/b>, the Mass Save program will pay <b class=\"db\">75% of the total cost, up to $2,000<\/b>. The home energy advisor will provide a complete scope of\u00a0 the proposed work, schedule the work with you and, in most cases, arrange for inspection when the work is completed.<\/li>\n<li>Recommendations for upgrades to appliances, hot water and heating systems, as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Generous rebates on qualifying energy-efficient heating and hot water heating equipment.<\/li>\n<li>The opportunity to apply for 0% financing for eligible measures through the HEAT loan program.<\/li>\n<li>Detailed information about <b class=\"db\">available rebates and incentives.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masssave.com\/en\/residential\/home-energy-assessments\/about-home-energy-assessments\/online-home-energy-assessment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mass Save&#8217;s Online Home Energy Assessment<\/a> and create your home energy profile.
