{"id":10315,"date":"2019-01-30T20:49:39","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T01:49:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/?p=10315"},"modified":"2019-01-30T20:49:39","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T01:49:39","slug":"led-streetlight-installation-gets-underway-in-needham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/2019\/01\/led-streetlight-installation-gets-underway-in-needham\/","title":{"rendered":"LED Streetlight installation gets underway in Needham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Town Manager&#8217;s office announced today that the installation of the LED Stretlights <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/2018\/07\/needham-select-board-gives-go-ahead-to-installation-of-2700-k-and-3000-k-led-streetlights\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">approved by the by the Select Board<\/a> last June is now underway.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/led-steetlight-installation.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/led-steetlight-installation-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-10316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/led-steetlight-installation-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/led-steetlight-installation-560x374.jpg 560w, https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/led-steetlight-installation.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Between now and March &#8211; as the weather permits &#8211; the Town&#8217;s contractor, Dagle Electric,  will convert approximately 2500 high-pressure sodium cobra head style lights to LEDs. <\/p>\n<p>Workers are currently servicing lights in the Needham Heights and will move from there accordingly. Their vehicles and clothing are marked with the Dagle Electric logo.   <\/p>\n<p>During this project, streetlight outages, cycling lights and functioning lights will also be serviced.  <\/p>\n<p>LED lights use significantly less energy and are expected to last two times longer than high pressure sodium lights. The Town also anticipates a significant savings in energy and maintenance costs.
