Are you ready to participate in a historic event? In less than one week, on Friday, September 20<\/strong>, young people and their supporters around the world will participate in a Global Climate Strike<\/strong>, demanding bold action to address the climate crisis. \"\"<\/a>How can we participate? In Boston, a rally and march will take place at Boston City Hall Plaza on Friday, September 20.<\/strong> The schedule is as follows: preliminary activities 10:00-11:30 a.m., main rally 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., march to State House 1-1:30 p.m., and action at State House 1:30-2:30 p.m.\u00a0 Follow the Strike with Us Boston webpage<\/a> to keep updated on details and RSVP to the\u00a0 Action Network page<\/a> to receive email updates.<\/p>\n

Several local events have been planned in Metrowest.<\/strong> In Westwood<\/strong>, the Charles River Green Coalition is organizing a morning rally from 7-9 a.m<\/strong>. at the intersection of Route 109 (High Street) and Gay Street in Westwood. See their Facebook page<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n

3:00: Interested adults meet at Wellesley Green parking area, 85 Grove Street, to walk together to Wellesley Town Hall (or meet at Town\u00a0 Hall)<\/b><\/p>\n

These climate strikes are part of a week of global climate events which coincide with the September 23, 2019 UN Climate Action Summit at the UN Headquarters in New York City.<\/p>\n

According to the website<\/a> of the UN\u00a0 Climate Action Summit: “Global emissions are reaching record levels and show no sign of peaking. The last four years were the four hottest on record, and winter temperatures in the Arctic have risen by 3\u00b0C since 1990. Sea levels are rising, coral reefs are dying, and we are starting to see the life-threatening impact of climate change on health, through air pollution, heatwaves and risks to food security. . . .\u00a0 But there is a growing recognition that affordable, scalable solutions are available now that will enable us all to leapfrog to cleaner, more resilient economies.<\/strong>”<\/p>\n
