{"id":1273,"date":"2011-05-23T23:38:54","date_gmt":"2011-05-24T03:38:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/?p=1273"},"modified":"2011-06-07T23:41:22","modified_gmt":"2011-06-08T03:41:22","slug":"great-progress-for-needham-community-farm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/2011\/05\/great-progress-for-needham-community-farm\/","title":{"rendered":"Great Progress for Needham Community Farm!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 22nd, the Needham Community Farm (NCF) broke ground at our new location off Pine Street. Over 40 volunteers, children and adults, spent the day building raised beds, to be used for educational programs at the site. These beds will also provide fresh produce to the Needham Food Pantry and the community.<\/p>\n<p>The NCF was able to purchase the materials for the beds \u2013 lumber and hardware \u2013 and the compost to fill them, thanks to a Needham Education Foundation (NEF) grant. This grant will also fund program development to be implemented in partnership with the Needham Public Schools. \u00a0The NCF Board is so appreciative of NEFs support.<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to Whole Foods at Legacy Place for donating refreshments for our hard working volunteers. And, special thanks to Garret Graham Jr. of the Needham Garden Center and Richard Greenleaf for being such supportive community members and for their willingness to help when we needed it.<\/p>\n<p>One of the primary objectives of the Needham Community Farm is to build community.\u00a0\u00a0This weekend we began to do just that.\u00a0\u00a0We brought community members of all ages and backgrounds together to create something for all of us.\u00a0\u00a0We had fun, met new people, worked hard, and accomplished something tangible.\u00a0\u00a0Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers for making the Needham Community Farm kick-off such a great success.<\/p>\n<p>To learn about the NCF visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.needhamfarm.org\/\">www.needhamfarm.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On May 22nd, the Needham Community Farm (NCF) broke ground at our new location off Pine Street.
