The next five to ten years are critical if we are to tackle the climate crisis and make the transition to a zero net carbon economy and a more prosperous future.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/NeedhamTownSeal.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11083\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/NeedhamTownSeal-297x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"97\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a>Our Select Board will be expected to lead the work here in Needham.\u00a0 In April, 2021, we asked the candidates running for the Select Board to answer a series of questions to help voters understand their perspective on these critical issues.\u00a0 Support for the development of a Climate Action Plan was one of those questions.\u00a0 Since that time, our formal request that the Select Board take up the development of a Climate Action Plan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/2021\/10\/needham-select-board-creates-climate-action-plan-committee\/\">received a positive response from the Board with their decision late this summer to create a Climate Action Plan committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with a <strong>Special Election on December 7th<\/strong>, Green Needham has reached out to the candidates vying to fill the vacancy on the Select Board.\u00a0 We asked Karen Calton and Kevin Keene a similar series of questions to help voters understand their perspective on these critical issues and the next steps forward for the Town of Needham.<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/candidate-questions-december-2021-select-board-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>read their responses<\/b> <\/a> and share them with friends, family and neighbors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What steps can Needham take to address the climate crisis?
