Oct. 5: Nine Questions, Ninety Minutes: The State Ballot Questions<\/h2>\n

Monday, October 5\u00a0 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.<\/strong> Broadmeadow School, 120 Broad Meadow Rd. Needham\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

Join the League of Women Voters of Needham<\/strong> <\/a>as they present the nine statewide ballot questions. Voters will be asked in the November 3rd election to vote yes or no on nine state ballot questions. This is an in-person event that is being live streamed on The Needham Channel.<\/a> \u00a0<\/span>This forum will summarize each question, explain the effect of a YES or NO vote, and present financial impact and fundraising<\/p>\n

Oct. 7: Safe Streets Event: Walk Audit of Needham Center<\/h2>\n

Wednesday, October 7 noon\u00a0 \u00a0 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0Safe Streets Needham<\/a> is partnering with\u00a0WalkMassachusetts<\/a> to offer a walk audit<\/a> of Needham Center. The purpose of the walk audit is to document current conditions of the area, such as dangerous intersections and broken sidewalks. After the audit,\u00a0WalkMassachusetts<\/a> will help compile the group\u2019s observations into a summary report with recommendations, which will be shared with the Town and DPW afterward.\u00a0 If you would like to join event, show up on Wednesday October 7th at noon in front of Town Hall<\/strong>. Feel free to reach out<\/a> with any questions.<\/p>\n

Oct. 8: In-Person Event \u2013 Question 7: Legalize Starter Homes \u2014 What Voters Should Know<\/h2>\n

Thursday, October 8\u00a0 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.<\/strong> Needham Public Library Community Room.\u00a0 \u00a0 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n

This free, in-person informational event <\/strong>is sponsored by the Needham Housing Coalition<\/a>. Question 7 is one piece of the puzzle in addressing our housing shortage. While many housing proposals focus on apartments and multifamily housing, fewer address the need for more modestly priced single-family homes<\/strong>. Smaller lots can make it possible to build smaller, less expensive homes, creating more opportunities for homeownership and the long-term wealth-building that can come with it.\u00a0 Learn what Question 7 would do, why the Needham Housing Coalition<\/a> supports it, and what it could mean for Needham and communities across Massachusetts.\u00a0 Andrew Mikula, Chief Housing Economist at the Pioneer Institute, will explain the proposal and answer questions.<\/p>\n
