Needham High School’s Environmental Club<\/b> is a small, yet committed group of students working towards making the high school and the community more environmentally conscious.\u00a0 In the 2013-2014 school year, the agenda revolves around the central issue of recycling.<\/p>\n
Back in 2011, the club implemented a recycling program, (which was previously non-existent), in the high school’s cafeteria. Now, the club takes it upon itself to help promote and encourage participation where it is often still lacking. Furthermore, the club will continue to create what they call ” Green Tips”, informational blurbs posted along the hallways that inform the students and teachers\u00a0 about ways to help improve their community.\u00a0 Finally, this fall, the club promoted a petition to put a referendum question about expanding the bottle bill to include water and sports drinks on the November 2014 Massachusetts ballot.<\/p>\n
The club’s President, Halle Katz<\/b>, also wishes to get the group more involved in hands-on projects such as working with the Needham Community Farm or visiting an environmental-related facility or organization.\u00a0 More importantly, the team at NHS wishes to encourage and hopefully inspire others to take action.\u00a0 The club is always looking for greater participation and would love to see new faces.\u00a0 Members meet for a half hour every second and fourth Monday of the month at 2:45 in room 217.<\/p>\n
