So far, <b>111 Needham households<\/b> have chosen to Solarize their homes.  Those homes will generate over 900,000 kWh of electricity yearly.  Because of our success &#8211; and the continuing interest the program has received &#8211; our Solarize partner Astrum Solar has agreed to allow us to do one more round of outreach.  Astrum is <strong>extending the Solarize pricing for Needham through October 31st.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Solarize-Extended-sign-small.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3903\" alt=\"Solarize Extended sign small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Solarize-Extended-sign-small-300x281.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Solarize-Extended-sign-small-300x281.png 300w, https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Solarize-Extended-sign-small.png 466w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The goal of the Solarize program is to drive down the cost of residential solar by making it easier and cheaper for more Massachusetts homeowners to install solar PV.  Solarize Needham shows that it&#8217;s working.  The Solarize price available in Needham is $3.15 per watt.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seia.org\/research-resources\/solar-market-insight-report-2014-q1\">According to the Solar Energy Industries Association<\/a>, the residential solar systems average $4.56 per Watt nationwide, 30 percent more than our Solarize price.<\/p>\n<p>Needham will also be seeing another benefit of our Solarize success.  Because Solarize Needham exceeded its goal of 100 installations, Astrum Solar will <b>donate a $25,000 solar installation<\/b> for one of Needham\u2019s public buildings.<\/p>\n<p>Take this opportunity to <b>join over 100 of your neighbors<\/b> in saving money and generating clean, renewable electricity in Needham.
