Tomato Fest at the Needham Farmers Market<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

This Sunday, September 21<\/span>st<\/span><\/sup><\/span><\/span>, Needham Farmers Market welcomes the annual Tomato Fest celebration. There will be a number of events throughout the day including: <\/span>guess the weight of the tomato, identify the tomato variety, bring your ugliest tomato\u00a0contest, share a tomato recipe bulletin board, tomato “saucy” coloring page activity, and vote for the best tomato\u00a0taste test (at the \u00a0<\/span><\/span>Center Cafe). Chef Vanessa will be the Chef in the House host, and she will be making fresh chunky tomato sauce. Kids are also encouraged to answer the Farmers Buck question, \u201cWhat is your favorite way to enjoy tomatoes?\u201d Participating kids will receive $5 in Farmer\u2019s Bucks to spend at any of the market\u2019s vendors. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Neighborhood Farm\u2019s featured produce is <\/span>butternut, acorn and delicata squash, Long Island cheese pumpkins, carnival squash, sunshine squash, and 20 varieties of garlic. MacArthur Farm\u2019s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0featured produce is romano beans, acorn and butternut squash, Yukon gold, red bliss, and white potatoes, apples, cider, lettuce, beets, carrots, pumpkins, and 8″ mums (3 for $10). <\/span>Both farms have a wide variety of produce including heirloom tomatoes.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The MetroWest Jazz Project is this week\u2019s featured live musical performance sponsored by Not Your Average Joe\u2019s Kitchen and Bar Needham.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our vendors are MacArthur Farm, The Neighborhood Farm, Globe Fish, Lilac Hedge, Susie\u2019s Baking, Two Brothers Cookies, Fior d\u2019Italia, and Uyghur Bread.
