If the number changed, there is likely a leak, which could be as simple to fix as replacing a worn rubber flapper in the toilet tank.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Twist:<\/strong>\u00a0Fix\u00a0dripping pipes, fixtures or hoses by using a wrench to twist and tighten the connections. If needed, pipe tape can help seal shower fixtures or hose connections.\u00a0Check washers and valves for persistent drips and repair or replace, if necessary.\u00a0Remind everyone\u00a0to turn faucets and showers off\u00a0tightly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Replace:<\/strong>\u00a0For old or inefficient fixtures not easily repaired,\u00a0look for\u00a0WaterSense labeled models\u00a0to replace them.\u00a0WaterSense products\u00a0are available in a variety of styles and price points\u00a0at home improvement stores.\u00a0These money-saving products\u00a0are\u00a0high performing and\u00a0independently certified to\u00a0use at least 20 percent less water.\u00a0Look for\u00a0the\u00a0WaterSense\u00a0label\u00a0on\u00a0product\u00a0packaging\u00a0or the website\u00a0of your favorite plumbing brand.\u00a0Many WaterSense partners\u00a0also\u00a0offer\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rebates<\/span>\u00a0for WaterSense labeled products.<\/p>\n<p>WaterSense, an EPA\u00a0partnership program, seeks to protect the future of our nation&#8217;s water supply by offering people a simple way to use less water with water-efficient products, new homes\u00a0and services.\u00a0The program helps\u00a0consumers make smart water choices that save money and maintain high environmental standards without compromising performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/yosemite.epa.gov\/opa\/admpress.nsf\/e51aa292bac25b0b85257359003d925f\/a06f269281a8e5e385257e0a0056f9f2!OpenDocument\" target=\"_blank\">EPA&#8217;s website <\/a>to\u00a0learn more.
