{"id":4975,"date":"2015-08-10T20:33:12","date_gmt":"2015-08-11T00:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/?p=4975"},"modified":"2018-05-03T23:36:00","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T03:36:00","slug":"have-you-had-your-no-cost-home-energy-assessment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/2015\/08\/have-you-had-your-no-cost-home-energy-assessment\/","title":{"rendered":"Have You had your No-cost Home Energy Assessment?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the support of local businesses around Needham, Green Needham and our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masssave.com\/residential\/lighting-and-appliances?gclid=CJSR4sr9nMcCFQsRHwodz-UA7w\" target=\"_blank\">Mass Save <\/a>partner, Next Step Living,\u00a0have signed up dozens of electric customers for no-cost home energy assessments at \u201ctabling events\u201d around town this summer. It is <strong><em>not<\/em><\/strong> actually \u201cfree\u201d \u2013 we <strong><em>all<\/em><\/strong> pay a small \u201cconservation\u201d charge on our Eversource (formerly NSTAR) bills every month, which pays for the Mass Save-run program, but there is <strong><em>no charge<\/em><\/strong> to get the assessment.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve already had an energy assessment, but it was more than 2 years ago, you can get another one (and if it\u2019s been five+ years, you should <strong><em>definitely<\/em><\/strong> get another one).\u00a0 During the assessment, which can be done on Saturdays as well as weekdays, an Energy Advisor will check your home\u2019s heating\/cooling systems, appliances, insulation levels, suitability for solar, and other areas for opportunities to make your home more energy efficient, helping <strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you<\/span><\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>save money and energy.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>In addition, the Energy Advisor will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replace all incandescent light bulbs with CFLs, and, in high-traffic areas, up to two LCDs<\/li>\n<li>Install a programmable thermostat in every zone in qualified homes<\/li>\n<li>Install low-flow shower heads &amp;
