They began to reach out to other houses of worship, and planned a gathering for October 12th at their temple.\u00a0 Amazingly, more than 60 religious and spiritual organizations responded, and over 500 people came together\u00a0on October\u00a012<sup>th<\/sup> to voice shared values about our earth and the moral imperative to act.\u00a0 The organizers were prepared and explained that on Tuesday, November 10th, there would be a Legislative Action Day at the State House.<\/p>\n<p>More than 200 people gathered at the Grand Staircase at the State House for a spirited rally on the November 10th,\u00a0urging\u00a0legislators to commit to a clean and just energy future that meets our state&#8217;s energy needs, and also meets our moral obligation to protect our planet, future generations, and our most vulnerable communities.\u00a0After the rally, we fanned out to visit more than 60 legislators&#8217; offices, where we outlined and advocated for the\u00a0coalition&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=0014cJGphE58cE-lTt60YvobrNvAkwwccbu4DWtVEk05OE-915BayXkOAcKqRbxn0aQz3i4-zATl_G05hSbpSOOwobiKqjEHxVbZAQ1Sr3ewJatIpMmMzlm2hCOE2sTIC2h6Vy3P0F1L3_HM5KblMvnLllqi45_jJU2SbFMej7zVjuoysQ9volygS9JOoB677YG8FbmoeUlEsQnY3sgwC_PXvBhW4-4V4nl8e_nTCj3Fy621EydGbfOLQ==&amp;c=DZzL4wEM6iTHeH_JUfxaPP5vCFZA86mtR0ADU3pkPgAMRaF8GiMSJA==&amp;ch=LbmfGpAUVo2zTZc48pv0MpFcn6rqkIp6sb70h11p1Lb0toGPKixwYw==\" target=\"_blank\">five legislative priorities<\/a>\u00a0for comprehensive energy legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Nine people from Needham, representing three houses of worship, met with aides from\u00a0Senator Ross&#8217; and\u00a0Rush&#8217;s offices, and with legislative aide Morgan Prudden from Representative Denise Garlick\u2019s office (see photo below).\u00a0 We made our voices heard and stressed the need to direct our energy legislation toward clean, renewable power, and equal access to energy conservation measures for all citizens of Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here today because we know that there are crucial decisions to be made,\u201d said Mariama White-Hammond, a minister in training at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Jamaica Plain. \u201cThese are decisions that will impact not just the here and now, but generations to come.
