One Step at-a-time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do you <strong><em>really<\/em> <\/strong>need to use bottled water at home and at the office?\u00a0 Bottled water isn&#8217;t necessarily cleaner or better for you than tap water &#8211; in fact, <strong><em>often <\/em><\/strong>it is tap water that&#8217;s<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/ban-all-bottles-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-8266\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/ban-all-bottles-300x225-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/ban-all-bottles-300x225-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.greenneedham.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/ban-all-bottles-300x225-45x45.jpg 45w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a> been filtered.\u00a0 You can do the <strong><em>same<\/em> <\/strong>thing by using a <strong><em>Brita<\/em> <\/strong>pitcher or installing a filter on your faucet.\u00a0 You&#8217;re already paying a substantial sum to get clean tap water, so you might as well drink it.\u00a0 And what about when you&#8217;re out?\u00a0 Get a reusable container (readily available at local stores, including Whole Foods) and fill it with tap water.\u00a0 Or check your cabinets &#8211; you probably already have one!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Environmental Costs for Plastic Water Bottles:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wasting Water<em>: Including making the bottle, it takes an estimated 3 liters of water to produce 1 liter of bottled water.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Trash &#8211; most water bottles are not recycled, and end up in landfills, incinerated or in waterways:<em> Americans use more than 73 billion half-liter plastic water bottles each year, but only about 1\/3 are recycled. <\/em><em>In 2013, an estimated 2 million tons of PET was wasted.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fossil fuels &#8211;
