The changing face of transportation will be in the spotlight when transportation entrepreneur Robin Chase<\/b> addresses the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber\u2019s annual Spring Business Breakfast on Friday May 3 at the Needham Sheraton Hotel.<\/p>\n
Robin Chase<\/b> is co-founder and former CEO of Zipcar<\/b>, the largest carsharing company in the world; as well as co-founder of Veniam<\/b>, a network company that moves terabytes of data between vehicles and the cloud. Her recent book is \u201cPeers Inc: How People and Platforms are Inventing the Collaborative Economy and Reinventing Capitalism.\u201d Her current passion is working with cities to maximize the transformation possible with the introduction of self-driving cars.<\/p>\n
Chase has received many awards in the areas of innovation, design, and environment, including Time 100 Most Influential People, Fast Company Fast 50 Innovators, and BusinessWeek Top 10 Designers. Robin graduated from Wellesley College and MIT’s Sloan School of Management, was a Harvard University Loeb Fellow, and received an honorary Doctorate of Design from the Illinois Institute of Technology. <\/p>\n
Also speaking at the breakfast will be Mike Kennealy<\/b>, Massachusetts secretary of Housing and Economic Development. Mike served as co-chair of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center in his previous role as Assistant Secretary for Business Growth. He also served two years as Special Advisor to the Receiver at Lawrence Public Schools, where he worked with the state-appointed superintendent\/receiver on strategic and financial initiatives to support the school district\u2019s turnaround plan. Before entering government service, Mike was with private equity firm Spectrum Equity, which he helped grow to $5 billion in investments in 100 high-growth firms. <\/p>\n
