Join us for an eye-opening conversation about the world of plastic, including how it\u2019s manufactured and why production has recently increased.\u00a0 \u00a0We will discuss the challenges of recycling plastic and explore the harmful effects of plastic pollution on our environment and human health.\u00a0 The talk will include simple ways for the citizens of Needham to take an active role in reducing plastic production and consumption.\u00a0 Our speaker, Kathy Raiz, from the Beyond Plastic\u2019s Speaker\u2019s Bureau and Green Needham\u2019s Plastic Waste Reduction Team, is excited to chat with you about how to make our community more sustainable.<\/p>\n
About the Presenter Kathy Raiz<\/strong><\/p>\n Kathy has been a member of the Beyond Plastics Speaker\u2019s Bureau from its inception in 2021. Since attending Judith Enck\u2019s class on plastic pollution, she has become eager to educate people about the negative impact that plastic has on the environment and personal health, while encouraging citizens to take an active role in reducing plastic production and consumption. She is a member of Green Needham\u2019s Plastic Reduction Team and is currently working to pass a plastic bag ban bylaw in the town.<\/p>\n Kathy has a BS from Tufts University and a MS in Human Resources Development from Villanova University. She works with various non-profit organizations as an HR Consultant. She lives in Needham, MA with her husband and their two daughters.
