In January, the Needham High School Environmental Action Club (EAC) will be offering easy ways to recycle small electronics and holiday lights and at the same time help conservation efforts supported by Zoo New England.

Do you have a tangle of old holiday lights that you are not using or that are broken? Please don’t throw them in the trash! For the month of January, there will be collection boxes at the Needham Public Library for recycling used strings of holiday lights and extension cords (working or broken). Collections are in conjunction with Zoo New England, which will use the recycling proceeds to support programs that protect lions and their habitats. See Lights for Lions for more information.

In addition, the EAC will also collect used small electronics (working or broken) again this January. Any used small electronics (cell phones, tablets, digital watches, adapters, chargers, MP3 players, hand-held game systems) can be turned in for recycling to help save Gorilla Habitats. Collection boxes will be in the Needham Public Library for the month of January. (Please no laptops, monitors, DVD players, calculators–these can be recycled elsewhere.)  Collections are in conjunction with Zoo New England. For more information, see Save the Gorillas.
