As Earth Day 2025 approaches, we are faced with an all-out assault on environmental protection and climate action. Under the Trump administration, the US withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement was followed by a raft of shocking actions. The administration has rolled back environmental regulations, halted leases for offshore wind, made major cuts in climate research, promoted more burning of fossil fuels, and slashed the EPA budget. Even the EPA’s “endangerment finding,” which determined that greenhouse gases endanger public health and welfare, is in danger of being reversed. Please join your Needham neighbors in an Earth Day protest/vigil event on Tuesday, April 22, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Participants will stand on the sidewalk on Highland Avenue opposite the Needham Library. Bring a sign or just come and stand with others who are concerned.
