Summer is here! As we vacation and celebrate with family and friends, July is a perfect month for making some personal changes to reduce our use of plastics.
Beyond Plastics is encouraging people to participate in Plastic Free July, offering a special online calendar highlighting 31 days of simple actions you can take to move beyond plastic.
Here’s how Beyond Plastics describes the initiative:
👉Check it out and start taking action. 📅
“The Beyond Plastics Plastic Free July Calendar includes a mix of actions that are:
- Personal — like swapping out plastic produce bags or replacing your reusable plastic water bottle with a stainless steel one;
- Educational — like sharing myth-busting resources about “biodegradable” and “compostable” plastic or reading up on “chemical recycling” or; and
- Legislative — including calling your elected officials or advocating for local bans on plastic foam or “skip the stuff” laws.
“We created this calendar to give folks something they can actually do every day — whether it’s making a personal swap away from plastic or contacting decision-makers to push for systemic change. Although the plastic pollution crisis was created by big companies and will require action by policy makers and changes from those companies to reverse it, our everyday choices still matter.
This fun calendar of daily Plastic Free July actions is designed to empower you to push for both personal and political change — and have some fun while you do it.”
