Oct. 5: Nine Questions, Ninety Minutes: The State Ballot Questions

Join the League of Women Voters of Needham as they present the nine statewide ballot questions. Voters will be asked in the November 3rd election to vote yes or no on nine state ballot questions. This is an in-person event that is being live streamed on The Needham Channel. This forum will summarize each question, explain the effect of a YES or NO vote, and present financial impact and fundraising
Oct. 7: Safe Streets Event: Walk Audit of Needham Center

Safe Streets Needham is partnering with WalkMassachusetts to offer a walk audit of Needham Center. The purpose of the walk audit is to document current conditions of the area, such as dangerous intersections and broken sidewalks. After the audit, WalkMassachusetts will help compile the group’s observations into a summary report with recommendations, which will be shared with the Town and DPW afterward. If you would like to join event, show up on Wednesday October 7th at noon in front of Town Hall. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Oct. 8: In-Person Event – Question 7: Legalize Starter Homes — What Voters Should Know

This free, in-person informational event is sponsored by the Needham Housing Coalition. Question 7 is one piece of the puzzle in addressing our housing shortage. While many housing proposals focus on apartments and multifamily housing, fewer address the need for more modestly priced single-family homes. Smaller lots can make it possible to build smaller, less expensive homes, creating more opportunities for homeownership and the long-term wealth-building that can come with it. Learn what Question 7 would do, why the Needham Housing Coalition supports it, and what it could mean for Needham and communities across Massachusetts. Andrew Mikula, Chief Housing Economist at the Pioneer Institute, will explain the proposal and answer questions.
