Are you interested in becoming a Green Needham energy coach, helping homeowners interested in switching to heat pumps for cooling and heating?
An excellent training resource for energy coaching is offered by the Heat Smart Alliance (HSA), which has just announced a new offering of their no-cost Heat Pump Coaching Basics Course. The course will be taught in six 1½-hour Zoom class sessions, occurring weekly on Thursdays at noon, from November 5th to December 17th, with a break for Thanksgiving November 26th. There will be an optional additional session on January 7th for a panel discussion on addressing the electrification challenge in multi-family buildings. See the Course Outline for more information.
You do not have to be an engineer to be an Energy Coach. What’s important are communication skills and the ability to convey technical information in layman’s terms. The HSA Energy Coaching Course will provide the technical training needed to enable you to explain to home owners how heat pumps work and how they can take the place of, or supplement, their existing heating systems.
Initially, you will work with Green Needham’s current energy coach to familiarize yourself with the nature of the work. Once you are comfortable, you can do this work independently. The Green Needham energy coaching work has typically involved 2-4 house calls per month. Each house call is typically 1-2 hours, plus limited prep and follow-up time. Your time commitment is flexible.
If you are interested in the Energy Coaching Basics Course, please apply to HSA by Sunday, October 18. Course registration form
