Frustrated by broken and/or damaged household items which are costly to replace or have sentimental value? We usually just throw these items away, but repairing instead is a great alternative because it extends product life and reduces demand for new products, thereby reducing waste and saving you money. Also, supporting a circular economy that values repair and re-use promotes the Town’s sustainability goals by conserving resources. And you might even restore a family treasure!
The town of Needham is hosting their second Fixit Clinic on Saturday, November 14 from 10 am-2 pm in the Community Room of the Needham Free Public Library. Below is a list of the repair “categories.” There is no charge, but you must complete an online registration form, where you will select a repair category and an available time slot. Then you just show up at the library with your item 5-10 minutes before your scheduled repair appointment, and a volunteer will discuss your issue, diagnose the problem, and hopefully repair it!
Repair Categories
- bike repair
- clocks
- clothing/textile mending
- computers
- furniture repair
- lamps
- sewing machine repair
- small appliances
- small engine repairs (lawn mower snow blower)
