The Diet Climate Connection: How the Foods We Eat Affect the Planet We Inhabit

March 20, 2014 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

diet-climate_connection_freudberg

Award-winning public radio host David Freudberg will lead us in exploring how the way we eat impacts the climate. His presentation will include excerpts from his recent documentary series, broadcast worldwide on NPR.

What was the carbon footprint of your dinner last night? Agriculture is a huge emitter of greenhouse gases associated with climate change. This is an important emerging topic as Americans grapple with recent heat waves, storms and other weather extremes as “the face of global warming.”

  • Learn which foods release the highest global-warming emissions and which foods release the lowest
  • Hear stories of people in different communities seeking more ‘sustainable food’ choices and adapting their diets – especially at college campuses
  • Discover the surprising alignment between climate-friendly foods and a healthy diet

Join us on March 20th for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to The Walnut Grille Restaurant,

1203 Walnut St., Newton. A Vegetarian/Vegan Experience
