It's a classic win-win situation -- Green Needham Collaborative has been awarded a grant from NSTAR to make Needham greener and more energy efficient. We will be partnering with Next Step Living, a Mass Save® Participating Home Performance Contractor. Our goal is to get more Needham residents to take advantage of Mass Save's no-cost home energy assessments and to follow up with energy and money-saving efficiency upgrades that Next Step Living will arrange and the Mass Save program helps pay for. You get to enjoy a more comfortable, energy-efficient home and save money on energy.

Here's how it works:

• Call 866-867-8729 or fill out our web form to schedule a no-cost, detailed home energy assessment.
• The no-cost assessment is available to all residents in 1-4 family homes, whether they have gas, electric or oil heat. (Contact Green Needham if you live in an apartment or condo complex.)
• Homeonwers are eligible for an assessment once each year.
• Your in-home assessment will provide:
  • A top-to-bottom assessment of your home's energy efficiency, followed by detailed recommendations for energy-savings opportunities.
  • Compact fluorescent lights, setback thermostats, showerheads and faucet aerators will be installed at no charge.
  • If your home needs air sealing, it will be done at no charge to you. The home energy advisor will provide a complete scope of work, schedule the work with you and, in most cases, will arrange for inspection when the work is completed.
  • If your home needs insulation, the Mass Save program will pay 75% of the total cost, up to $2,000. The home energy advisor will provide a complete scope of work, schedule the work with you and, in most cases, arrange for inspection when the work is completed.
  • Recommendations for upgrades for appliances, hot water and heating systems, as needed.
  • Detailed information about available rebates and incentives.
