To advance our goal of reducing energy use in Needham homes, Green Needham has created a new team, the Home Energy Savings Team.  This team will build on our success with the NStar Community Home Energy Challenge, during which we increased the number of homeowners participating in Mass Save® programs to reduce energy use. The team will continue our collaboration with Next Step Living, our partner in delivering the no-cost energy assessments and follow-on savings measures available through the Mass Save program.

The no-cost energy assessment is the gateway to many other energy savings opportunities for homeowners. The Home Energy Savings Team will build on Green Needham’s past success of 500 home energy assessments performed, and has set a goal of 1,000 completed assessments.  The Team will also seek to increase the number of people who have insulation or other follow-up work done after their home energy audit.  In addition, the Team will seek to educate residents about larger energy-saving undertakings such as boiler replacements, and the use of newer technologies to achieve additional energy savings in their homes. Finally, the Team has an overarching goal of continuing to educate Needham residents on ways to save energy, helping Needham reduce the output of carbon from the use of fossil fuels.

The Home Energy Savings Team will hold regular meetings.  The Team is looking for interested Needhamites to join us.  If you are interested, or if you want more information, please email Jim Glickman at jamesglickman1@gmail.com or Maureen Commane at MCBL1@RCN.COM .
