The World’s Hottest Peppers Arrive at the Needham Farmers Market

This Sunday, September 7th the Needham Farmers Market will have the three hottest types of peppers in the world. The peppers include the Carolina Reaper, the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Pepper, and the Bhut Jolokia better known as the “Ghost” pepper. These peppers have been growing in the Neighborhood Farm greenhouse since February 1st and are now available for $2.50 each at the market. The Neighborhood Farm will also have apples from the Cold Spring Orchards along with a variety of other produce.

The MacArthur Farm will have locally grown watermelon, peaches, and cantaloupe all of which are picked the morning of the market. Also shoppers will not want to miss the “Mac Dozen” corn deal, 14 ears of corn for $3.

This week’s featured vendor is Harriet’s Bakery, a fully licensed residential kitchen in nearby Newton, Massachusetts. Harriet has baked food her entire life, she is most notable for her fudge brownie recipe. It wasn’t until 2012 that Harriet decided to bake a gluten-free fudgy brownie. The new recipe was inspired by her friends who had been diagnosed with celiac disease and were no longer able to eat her ‘glutenous’ brownies. Now all of Harriet’s treats are Gluten free. She brings brownies, cookies, muffins, and granola with her to the market and also takes delivery orders through her website and over the phone.

Sandy Orenstien and the Farmer’s Market Jazz Band is this week’s featured live musical performance sponsored by Not Your Average Joes Kitchen and Bar Needham.

Sunday September 7th is Art Day for Kids! Paint, glue, and create a priceless work of art at the Needham Farmers Market, presented by Needham Artists Sylvia Quiroga, Sheryl Scipione, and the Crafty Corner. The Crafty Corner will engage children in creating a mirrored popsicle stick frame.  The children will have the opportunity to glue, paint and decorate a hanging mirror out of popsicle sticks.  Open to all children.
