Cook along with Meatless Monday Needham at a Zoom class on Thursday, Feb. 10, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Vegetarian cooking instructor Jessica Weiss will demonstrate how to cook a meatless dish featuring tofu, mushrooms, aromatics and Indian spices. Register for this free class and you will receive a list of ingredients and a Zoom link. You may cook along or just watch the preparation of this delicious meal. And if you haven’t already signed the Meatless Monday Needham pledge, we hope you will be inspired to do so!

Launched in September, 2020, Meatless Monday Needham is a community-wide effort to encourage eating foods that prioritize human and environmental health. In addition to conferring health benefits, a diet rich in plant-based foods is healthier for the planet, as meat production releases significant amounts of greenhouse gases into the environment and contributes to other environmental damage.

So far, 190 households comprising 461 individuals have signed the Meatless Monday Needham online pledge: serve meatless, healthy plant-based meals on Mondays for 12 weeks. To support those who pledge, the Meatless Monday Needham website features tasty recipes and online cooking resources. A monthly newsletter offers recipes, plus information about local events and resources.

Meatless Monday Needham is sponsored by the Needham League of Women Voters, Green Needham, and the Needham Community Farm and is endorsed by the Needham Board of Health.
