There are many ways that the Plastic Waste Reduction Team is working to educate the citizens of Needham about plastic pollution and waste reduction.

Kathy Raiz’s plastic waste presentation to Pollard 7th graders

We are:

  • Visiting schools to give talks about the dangers of plastic pollution, and to encourage students to get in the habit of bringing reusable bags to stores.
  • Placing signs in grocery store and shopping center parking lots to remind people to bring their reusables bags into the stores.
  • Creating Public Service Announcements (PSA) to be broadcast on the Needham Channel and the Needham Facebook page.   Check out our latest PSA about the proposed plastic bag ban in Needham.

Contact us if you would like us to do a free presentation for your group!

Green Needham’s Plastic Waste Reduction Team is excited to announce an affiliate partnership with Beyond Plastics!  Led by former EPARegional Administrator Judith Enck, Beyond Plastics is a nationwide project based at Bennington College in Vermont, that pairs the wisdom and experience of environmental policy experts with the energy and creativity of grassroots advocates to build a vibrant and effective movement to end plastic pollution.  Beyond Plastic’s program and approach is closely aligned to the Green Needham Plastic Waste Reduction team’s goals.  They strive to reduce plastic production and pollution by educating citizens and working to change local, state and federal law.   For more information about Beyond Plastic’s purpose, principles and core message, click here.
