350.org Gathering on Needham Town Common
On a cold December Saturday, Needham residents joined others around the world supporting global action on climate change by gathering on the Town Common. Needham's group was one of many gatherings regionally and globally during the weekend of December 11-12.
Inspired by Bill McKibben and the group 350.org,
the gatherings support the goal of capping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at 350 parts per million, a level scientists believe would stave off the worst effects of global climate change.
The Green Needham Foundation, a Massachusetts not-for-profit corporation established in October, 2008, has been awarded tax-exempt status as a public charity under section 501(c)3 of the IRS code. The Foundation was created to support sustainability education and outreach in Needham as well as community sustainability and energy projects.
