Needham RTS Swap-It shop – in Sept 2021 after reopening

In case you hadn’t heard, the Re-Use-It Swap Shop at Needham RTS has reopened Yes, you can now drop off reusable items that are in good/usable condition, and/or shop for items that you need/want.  This is a great resource for keeping items out of the waste stream – remember, your trash is another Needhamite’s treasure!

The “Swap-it” shop is located in a small, green building on the left-hand side as you drive into the RTS.  The hours are Tuesday – Friday 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM, and Saturday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (but items can only be dropped off until 3 PM).  The Swap-it Shop is closed on Paint Saturdays – the third Saturday of the month, April through October.  The Swap-it Shop is now on a seasonal schedule – it will be open from April 1st through Nov. 30th.  So, check it out before the season closes on Nov. 30th!

Donated items must be complete, unbroken, in good working condition, and reasonably clean. A good guideline: Would you bring the item into your own home in its current condition?  Metal items in good condition, such as patio furniture, lamps, bicycles/tricycles, sleds, planters, hardware, and tools are also accepted.

Below is a partial list of  unacceptable items:

  • Appliances (large)
  • Blinds (unless new in package)
  • Children’s car seats more than five years old
  • Clothes and shoes
  • Computer monitors
  • Construction materials
  • Cribs
  • Cushions and pillows
  • Dehumidifiers / humidifiers / air purifiers
  • Fabric
  • Hoses (unless new in package)
  • Linens (unless new in package)
  • Mattresses
  • Microwaves
  • Paint
  • Pressed wood / particle board furniture
  • Rugs
  • TVs
  • Upholstered furniture
The Re-Use-It Swap Shop relies on volunteers to keep the shop running. Regular and occasional volunteers are needed. To volunteer or for more information email Volunteer Coordinator Brenda Metzler.
