The Environmental Action Club has a long history of activism, working to bring awareness on environmental issues primarily to the Needham High School Students and the Needham Community.  The club is student led, meeting weekly in the morning before school.

Past projects have included:

  • advocating for compostable trays instead of styrofoam trays in the school cafeteria
  • separating food waste from the trash to generate energy and reduce landfill waste
  • advocating for Solar Panel Canopies to be installed over town-owned parking lots
  • organizing Earth Day trash clean-ups in the town forest
  • regularly cleaning up trash around the High School
  • working with Mothers Out Front to raise awareness about the number of natural gas leaks around town
  • working with Green Needham to eliminate single-use plastic bags from town
  • selling reusable water bottles to discourage the use of single-use bottles
  • advocating for water bottle filling stations at school

In this February 23rd Needham Channel Newscast interview, club leaders talked about the work of the club and their commitment to the environmental mission.
