Green Needham is always heartened to hear of young people devoting their energies to environmental justice, especially when they are from Needham! We are particularly excited to solicit your support for our former summer intern David Robinson, who is raising funds for a year-long agricultural project in Africa.

David RobinsonPlease read on and see how you can support the efforts of this outstanding young man.

David attended Needham High (Class of 2010) and recently graduated from Haverford College. In August, he will be moving to Tanzania for a year to work as a project coordinator with 2Seeds Network. 2Seeds works with African partners to help improve their income security by fostering small, self-sustaining agricultural projects. David will be working at a school in the village of Magoma, where he will be engaging students with alternative agricultural methods at a student-run farm, the proceeds of which are directed to a school lunch program.

During the summer of 2011 David worked as a Green Needham Collaborative intern, where he spearheaded an outreach campaign to encourage local businesses to conduct energy audits. Since this internship, David has continued to develop his skills in sustainability by researching the environmental impacts of animal agriculture at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, working at an urban rooftop vegetable farm in New York City, and starting a campus farm at Haverford.

For his work in Tanzania, David needs to raise $8,000 for the year, which covers his travel and living expenses, and includes money to invest in the Magoma school farm. So far he has raised nearly $5,000 through many small donations. To learn more about David’s project please visit his website, and to donate visit his donation page and follow the instructions there.  Please show your support for David by contributing to this promising project. Good luck, David, from all of us at Green Needham!
